Watch out for waves and strong gusts of wind on Saturday

Take out your best raincoat and above all be vigilant if you spend the weekend near the coast. The weather on Saturday will be very unsettled, rainy and windy over a large northwest quarter and an Orange Waves-Submersion vigilance will be launched for five coastal departments, according to Météo-France forecasts. The departments concerned are those of Finistère (29), Morbihan (56), Loire-Atlantique (44), Vendée (85) and Charente-Maritime (17) for the high seas on Saturday afternoon .

“The waves that break on beaches or piers can be large and carry away visitors. Everyone is therefore reminded to avoid traveling along the seaside on foot or by car, and to exercise extreme caution when approaching the coast,” warns the Finistère prefecture.

Big gusts

The wind is also likely to blow very strongly with gusts of up to 70 to 90 km/h inland and locally up to 100 km/h. In Loire-Atlantique for example, the city of Nantes has indicated that the majority of its parks and gardens will not be accessible in the afternoon due to bad weather, and the departmental council has warned of possible traffic disruptions on the bridge. Saint Nazaire.

We could also fear violent and localized gusts of wind at more than 100 km/h near the coast, from southern Brittany to Vendée. Numerous locally stormy showers are also forecast.
