It has to be comfortable: The association “Müllwende” is committed to ensuring that the people of Munich do not have to carry their packaging waste to containers. Instead, he should be picked up at their home.
Sometimes Ulrich Grasberger wishes he had been busy with something else in his retirement, with fine arts for example; Conservation of monuments would also have interested him. But he just delved into the topic of garbage and got so lost in it that he can’t get out. With some like-minded people he founded the association “Müllwende”; it has now been recognized as a non-profit organization and was recently entered in the register of associations by the district court. Now Grasberger wants to clean up the club’s website first, www.muell-muenchen.de; on which so much information has already accumulated in such a confusing manner as the waste on the so-called recycling islands that are scattered all over the city. And there’s one thing Grasberger has learned from dealing with the garbage: “People are environmentally conscious, but it has to be comfortable. You have to make it easy for them.”
