Waste collection resumed on Thursday, the strike is lifted

It lasted a little over three weeks. The strike of Nantes garbage collectors, who contested the pension reform project, was lifted this Thursday morning by a staff vote. The collection of household waste therefore resumed around 7 a.m. in part of the Nantes conurbation, announces Nantes Métropole.

Nearly 25 garbage trucks are thus in activity this Thursday morning, specifies the community. However, the Prairie de Mauves and Couëron treatment sites are still closed for the time being due to the social movement.

The quantities of waste accumulated in the streets are such that it will take several days before seeing the city centers of the metropolis be decluttered. The presence of a large number of garbage bags on the road was the main reason that led to the postponement of the Nantes carnival, which was to start on Sunday. The collection of household waste has also resumed in Paris since Wednesday, the strike having been suspended.
