Warning strike: Lufthansa cancels a good 1000 flights in Frankfurt and Munich – economy

Because of the Verdi warning strike on Wednesday, Lufthansa is canceling almost the entire flight program at its German hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. The company announced this on Tuesday. A total of 678 flights are canceled at Frankfurt Airport, 32 of them on Tuesday. There were a total of 345 flights at Munich Airport on both days. Individual flight cancellations and delays are still possible on Thursday and Friday.

Verdi justified the warning strike with an inadequate offer from the group. The union has called on the airline’s approximately 20,000 ground workers to take part in widespread work stoppages on Wednesday in order to put pressure on the ongoing salary negotiations. Lufthansa announced that this would have a massive impact during the peak travel season. Her Human Resources Director Michael Niggemann said: “The early escalation after only two days of negotiations in what has so far been a constructive round of collective bargaining is causing enormous damage.”
