Warning strike at Bayerischer Rundfunk: failures and program changes – Bavaria

A warning strike by employees of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) has led to program restrictions at the ARD station since the morning hours. On Wednesday morning, the BR informed, among other things, in its radio info wave BR24 about cancellations and changes in the program.

At the start of the broadcast in Bavaria at 6 a.m., program director Steffen Jenter pointed out to the audience that a number of the broadcasting slots could not be filled as usual. In a press release, the broadcaster announced that BR24 radio would be switched to Bayern 1’s program from 9 a.m. According to the announcement, individual programs will be canceled on other waves. Restrictions have also been announced for web offers, apps and social media channels.

Unions had called for the warning strike from 4 a.m. The Bavarian Association of Journalists (BJV), for example, is demanding an increase in income of 6.0 percent for twelve months for the employees of the public broadcaster. According to its own statements, the broadcaster has offered its tariff partners a tariff increase of 2.8 percent for a period of 24 months as well as inflation compensation in the form of a one-off payment.
