A US journalist has been killed in an attack in Ukraine. A colleague was injured in the attack in the Irpin suburb, northwest of Kyiv, according to local police.

According to Ukrainian sources, a US journalist was killed and another injured in Ukraine. The two men came under fire in the town of Irpin, about ten kilometers north-west of the capital Kyiv. said the police of the Kyiv region. The information was also shared by the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Herashchenko, on the Telegram news channel.

Contested place near Kyiv

A Ukrainian member of parliament published a video on Twitter, which is said to show the colleague injured by a shrapnel in the pelvic area in a Kiev hospital. In it, the man says they were shot at from a checkpoint in the contested town. According to Ukrainian sources, Russian soldiers fired. There was initially no official reaction to the allegations from Moscow.

The US newspaper contradicted reports that the man killed was a reporter for the New York Times. Although the journalist had worked for the paper in the past, he was not on assignment for the “Times” in Ukraine, a spokesman said on Twitter. We are “deeply saddened” by reports of the filmmaker’s death.
