War in Ukraine: PEN President Deniz Yücel asked to resign

It’s kind of nice that there are still conflicts where, in addition to being humanitarian and nuclear serious, you can also say that they’re extremely funny. Five former presidents of the Pen, i.e. the authors’ association, which campaigns against any “kind of suppression of freedom of expression”, wrote a letter urging the incumbent president, Deniz Yücel, to resign from office because, among other things, he was on the Lit. Cologne for declared a no-fly zone and thus in favor of direct military intervention by NATO in the Ukraine war. If you want to be ungracious towards the five ex-presidents – who signed the letter Gert Heidenreich, Christoph Hein, Johano Strasser, Josef Haslinger and Regula Venske – you could sum it up like this: “Scandal! President of the association of free words expresses free words !”
