War in Ukraine: Former peace party the Greens is arming itself – culture

It was good that the Greens once argued about war missions. And it’s terrifying how they and their milieu don’t do it anymore. When will arguments go in all directions again in this country?

There is a somber poem by Georg Heym about the war that starts like this: “He has risen who slept long / Risen from deep beneath the vault.” As if the threatening backdrop wasn’t gigantic enough, it continues as follows: “In the twilight he stands, tall and unrecognized/ and he crushes the moon in his black hand.” Oddly enough, these verses conjure up images of Anton Hofreiter, who disappeared for a while after he hadn’t become what he wanted in government. Just as the war in Ukraine broke out, Hofreiter revived.
