War in Ukraine – follow the events in the stern live blog

Amid the Russian attack on Ukraine, Russia has President Vladimir Putin the pakistani one Prime Minister Imran Khan received in Moscow. The heads of state of the two countries discussed the most important issues of bilateral cooperation as well as current regional issues, including the situation in South Asia, the Kremlin said in a statement.

According to Pakistani journalists, the meeting, initially scheduled for one hour, lasted more than two and a half hours. Khan traveled to Moscow with a high-ranking delegation from Islamabad on Wednesday. The visit had been planned for around a month and took place at the invitation of the Russian President.

In view of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it was unclear until recently whether the meeting with Putin would take place. As the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced before the meeting, the talks between the heads of state should deal with bilateral relations, including cooperation in the energy sector, but also Islamophobia and Afghanistan.

When asked about the worsening situation in Ukraine, Khan told the Russian state broadcaster RT on Tuesday that he did not believe that military conflicts would solve problems. He thinks that civilized societies settle their differences through dialogue.
