Russia blocks the social network Facebook, the group counters: Various services should be maintained.

After the announcement of a Facebook block in Russia, it will no longer be possible to place ads on the online network from the country worldwide.

The advertising system was completely paused in Russia, as the parent company Meta announced on Saturday night. This means that advertisers from Russia can no longer place ads not only in their own country, but also internationally.

At the same time, work is being done to maintain the company’s services in Russia as much as possible despite the announced Facebook blockade. In addition to Facebook, Meta also includes the chat service WhatsApp and the photo and video platform Instagram.

The Russian media regulator announced the blocking of Facebook in Russia on Friday. The service had previously been slowed down. The media regulator cited “discrimination against Russian media” as the reason. In view of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, Facebook had partially restricted the visibility of Russian state media.
