War in Ukraine: Amnesty International apologizes after its report accusing the Ukrainian authorities of endangering the civilian population

Amnesty International apologized on Sunday for the “distress and anger” caused by its report accusing the Ukrainian authorities of endangering the civilian population, which angered the Ukrainian president and led to the resignation of the director of the NGO’s branch in kyiv.

In a report released Thursday, the human rights organization accused the‘Ukraine to endanger civilians by deploying troops into residential areas as part of its war against russia.

“Amnesty International deeply regrets the distress and anger caused by our press release on the combat tactics of the Ukrainian army”writing Amnesty International in an email to Reuters.

“Amnesty International’s priority in this conflict, as in any other conflict, is to ensure that civilians are protected. Indeed, that is the sole purpose of publishing this latest report. While fully maintaining our conclusions, we regret the pain caused”continues the NGO.

kyiv protested against the Amnesty report which, according to him, is part of Moscow’s propaganda.

Volodymyr Zelensky accused the NGO of “try to shift the responsibility from the aggressor to the victim”.
