War in the Middle East: Voices from the Gaza Strip – Politics

At 36, Duaa al-Sakani has never left the Gaza Strip. And even now she wants to stay in her apartment near Rafah, even if she sees clouds of black smoke rising from the window. The lawyer lives there with her husband, five children and other relatives. She says she has never experienced as many attacks as in the past few days. “Entire neighborhoods with schools, mosques, law offices, kiosks – suddenly razed to the ground. How many civilians are under the rubble?” asks al-Sakani. The conversation takes place via internet services; her husband has an Egyptian SIM card that still works.
