Blatt: Russia only supports Gazprom in LNG exports in exchange for rubles

According to a newspaper report, the Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov supports the plans of the energy giant Gazprom to only accept payments for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports in the national currency, the ruble. “We support the proposal in every respect,” the daily newspaper Vedomosti quoted Siluanov as saying. So far, liquefied natural gas has not been affected by the obligation to pay in rubles.

According to the US, Iran wants to supply drones to Russia

According to the US government, Russia is seeking hundreds of drones from Iran for its war in Ukraine. “Our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to deliver up to several hundred unmanned aerial vehicles, including weapon-capable ones, to Russia in an expedited process,” said National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

It is unclear whether Iran has already delivered drones to Russia. Sullivan said the development showed that the massive artillery deployment that Russia has used in recent weeks to secure its territorial gains in eastern Ukraine has come at the expense of its own weapons. Iran also supplied similar drones to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
