The Ukrainian capital Kiev and surrounding regions are spared from power outages today. This was announced by the leading power producer DTEK. The Odessa and Dnipro regions have regular electricity again. Faeser calls for better distribution of Ukrainian refugees
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has called for a better distribution of Ukrainian refugees in Europe. “Should there be another large flight from Ukraine, the refugees in Europe must be better distributed,” said the SPD politician to “Bild am Sonntag”. The Eastern European neighbors in particular should be relieved. “Poland has so far taken in more than 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees, Spain 160,000. It can’t stay like this.”
Next Thursday, Faeser wants to receive representatives of the conference of interior ministers and the municipal umbrella organizations in Berlin at a refugee summit.

Stoltenberg does not want to extend further
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg intends to give up his post in autumn of this year as planned. “He has no intention of seeking a further extension of his mandate,” said his spokeswoman Oana Lungescu at night when asked by the dpa news agency.
Stoltenberg’s mandate has already been extended three times and he has been in office for almost nine years. Recently there has been repeated speculation that the 63-year-old’s term of office could be extended again against the background of the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.
