Pepsico halts sales of Pepsi, 7Up and Mirinda in Russia. US rival Coca-Cola had previously announced that it would stop doing business in Russia because of the war against Ukraine.
The US beverage and food company Pepsico is severely restricting its business in Russia because of the war of aggression against Ukraine.
The company says it will temporarily suspend the sale and manufacture of soft drinks such as Pepsi, 7Up and Mirinda. In addition, Pepsico will stop investments and all advertising and marketing activities in Russia.
However, the company, which also has a wide grocery division, intends to continue offering in Russia. These include dairy products or baby food, CEO Ramon Laguarta explained in a letter to employees. These are important everyday items for which Pepsico has a “humanitarian” responsibility.
Pepsico is one of a number of companies that have come under pressure in recent days because of their ongoing business activities in Russia. Shortly before Pepsi, US rival Coca-Cola announced on Tuesday that it would suspend its business in Russia. In addition, the fast-food group McDonald’s and the coffee chain Starbucks announced that they would temporarily close their branches there.
