According to the mayor of Lviv, five rockets fell in the Ukrainian city near the Polish border in the morning. At least six people are said to have been killed. Explosions are also reported from Kyiv and the southern region of Dnipropetrovsk.

According to Ukrainian sources, the Russian army launched five rocket attacks on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv in the morning. Mayor Andriy Sadovyj wrote on his Facebook page about “five targeted rocket attacks against Lviv”.

At least six people were killed, including a child, according to the city’s governor, Maxym Kosyzky. As a result, several people were injured. The firefighters are on duty. According to media reports, there is still an air alert in Lviv. Further attacks are not excluded.

Lviv has been the target of Russian air raids on several occasions. However, the city is far from the front lines in western Ukraine and has seen fewer bombings than other cities further east and south since the Russian invasion began on February 24. In the past, the Russian military primarily shelled military and infrastructure objects near the city.

On March 26, the city was hit by a series of Russian airstrikes. Among other things, a fuel depot was attacked, five people were injured according to the authorities. In another attack a few days earlier, the city was the target of an airstrike that hit an aircraft repair factory near the airport. On March 13, Russian cruise missiles targeted a key military base about 40 kilometers northwest of Lviv, killing at least 35 people and injuring 134.

Lviv, which is close to the Polish border, has become a haven for refugees. Western embassies were also moved from Kyiv to Lviv at the beginning of the war.

Attacks also in Kyiv and Dnepropetrovsk

Airstrikes apparently also took place in other regions of the country in the morning. A reporter from the Reuters news agency reported several explosions in the Ukrainian capital. So far there is no information about casualties or damage.

According to media reports, two people were injured in attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region in the south of the country.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said Russian forces used Iskander missiles to destroy four weapons and military equipment depots in Ukraine, according to the TASS news agency. In addition, three Ukrainian military aircraft and eleven drones were shot down. The Russian armed forces had hit a total of 315 targets since the evening. The information cannot be independently verified.
