An explosion occurred on the Kerch Bridge. Two people have died. Russia blames Kyiv. The Ukrainian secret service SBU also spoke up.

After Explosion at the bridge to the annexed Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, Russia has officially spoken of an “act of terrorism”. Moscow blamed Ukrainian secret services. The Russian Anti-Terrorism Committee said the bridge was attacked by surface drones early Monday morning.

As with the attack in October, the Ukrainian secret service SBU also commented on the new explosion on the bridge. “The bridge has “slept” again. And one … two!”, The secret service announced after the explosion. According to Russian sources, a couple in a car was killed and the daughter was injured. The secret service claimed responsibility for the attack on the bridge in May in May, and the Ministry of Defense recently confirmed its involvement.

The head of parliament in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, Vladimir Konstantinov blamed Ukraine for the new attack. “Tonight the terror regime of Kiev committed a new crime and attacked the Crimean bridge,” he wrote on his Telegram channel. Traffic was stopped.

“Crimean bridge a superfluous construction”

After the renewed attack on the road bridge from Russia to Crimea, Ukrainian military intelligence spokesman Andriy Yusov told public television in Kiev: “One can only quote the words of military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov that “the Crimean bridge is a superfluous construction.” .”

According to a report by the online newspaper Ukrajinska Pravda, the bridge was said to have been attacked by surface drones. The executors were therefore the domestic secret service SBU and the Ukrainian naval forces. There have been no official comments on this so far. The Russian authorities only spoke of an “emergency” in the morning, while there was talk of an explosion on social networks.

Videos circulated on social networks, on which bangs could be heard and an explosion could also be seen. The authenticity could not be verified at first. Another video, taken from the train on the bridge, showed a destroyed roadway. It was therefore clearly slipped from a bridge base.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for almost 17 months. In the counteroffensive to liberate the areas occupied by Russia, the country also wants to recapture Crimea. Including Crimea, Russia controls almost a fifth of Ukraine’s territory.
