The police arrested a 49-year-old Wolfratshauser in Geretsried on Thursday afternoon, who is suspected of being a so-called Reich citizen. It is said to be a man who was wanted with several arrest warrants. According to the officials, the 49-year-old resisted the arrest and slightly injured a police officer. He is now also being investigated for a physical attack on police officers and for driving without a license. When searching the Wolfratshauser’s car, the officers also found cannabis products and seized them.
Background: So-called Reich citizens assume that the German Empire would continue to exist and that the Federal Republic of Germany was not a sovereign state. These often proclaim their own state within the territory of the Federal Republic and henceforth ignore the laws of the Federal Republic. Most of them can be assigned to the nationalist to right-wing extremist spectrum.
