The longtime keyboarder of the Austrian band Wanda, Christian Hummer, is dead. The musician died after a long, serious illness, his four bandmates announced on Monday evening on the group’s official Instagram and Facebook pages.
The news to fans was released just four days before the release of Wanda’s new studio album. The band actually wanted to celebrate the release of their new album with an exclusive record release party next Wednesday. This performance has now been canceled at short notice.
The musician, born in 1990, was one of the founding members of the indie rock band that got together in Vienna in 2012 and became known with songs like “Bologna” or “Bussi Baby” and has since become one of the most well-known Austrian acts in Germany and Switzerland has established.
“There are no words that can do justice to this loss,” the band wrote of Hummer’s death. “Christian was a gifted musician and a wonderful person. His enthusiasm for music and his devotion to people made him so endearing.”
