Volotea invests to make its love affair with the airport last

Ten years after its arrival at Nantes-Atlantique airport, Volotea intends to strengthen its love affair with the City of the Dukes. The Spanish low-cost company has been, for several years, the main company on the Nantes platform in terms of number of destinations, ahead of Transavia and EasyJet. Conversely, the Nantes airport, which is only the ninth in France in terms of traffic, is also the main base of the network. Volotea in Europe.

Despite the crisis in the airline sector, Volotea, which considers that it has withstood the storm rather well (92% load factor claimed in 2021), continues its development and announces six new routes from Nantes-Atlantic from this summer: four to Greece (Athens, Zante, Heraklion, Mykonos) and two to Italy (Brindisi and Fiumicino). Openings that bring the total of destinations served to 42.

Nearly 90 destinations this summer

To support this growth, the Spanish company will park two additional aircraft in Nantes. The Volotea base will now have eight Airbus aircraft (A319 and A320), including one in reserve.

All companies combined, Nantes-Atlantique airport plans a total of 88 destinations, to 25 different countries, for its summer 2022 programme. Twelve connections are new, in particular Reykjavik (Transavia), Budapest (Transavia), Dakar (Transavia) or Izmir (Sun Express). A total of 21 airlines offer at least one line departing from Nantes.
