Even without the exceptional 38-year-old player Georg Grozer, who was not used, the DVV selection lived up to their role as favorites against the 34th in the world rankings. Winiarski also switched to other positions and rested players. The most successful German attackers were Denys Kaliberda and Erik Röhrs, each with ten points.
