Volkshochschule Würmtal: Almost like before Corona – district of Munich

A waiver of an increase in fees and a huge offer, also with new topics – the adult education center Würmtal has a clear plan to dock back on the golden days before Corona. As far as the registrations are concerned, director Julika Baake, Karola Albrecht and Susanne Reicheneder are well on the way to doing so, as they explained at a press conference. In the year before Corona 2019, 11,111 women and men attended VHS courses, last year there were at least 9225 again. The range of courses has not yet reached the volume from the time before the epidemic, but with almost 90 percent it is still there Events from 2019 well underway again.

In the summer semester, the Adult Education Center wants to score points with new topics, including the area “Transgender and Queer”, which will be dealt with in several events. These terms will be explained in detail at a workshop on March 22nd. A visit to the Planegg Urological Clinic is also offered on March 29 under the motto “Man to woman, woman to man”. In this hospital there is a center for reconstructive urogenital surgery. Incidentally, both events are free of charge, they are subsidized by the state.

An evening in June in the series “People and the Environment” leads into the distance. It’s about the former German colony of Papua New Guinea. The reason for the event is a visit by athletes from the island state to the Würmtal communities of Gräfelfing and Planegg on the occasion of the Special Olympics in Berlin. The subject area also includes a lecture on May 11: “German-language literature and its view of its colonial legacy”.

The VHS summer semester begins on the last Monday in February. You can register now.
