Volkshochschule Nord – Courses for Ukrainian children – District of Munich

The Volkshochschule Nord promotes the integration of Ukrainian children with a special programme. During the Easter holidays, five groups of Ukrainian children receive German courses at the Adult Education Centers in Garching, Ismaning and Unterföhring to learn and deepen the language. The support program is accompanied by a creative offer in which the children paint, draw, learn about music and design. In Ismaning, for example, a mural was created in a joint effort led by graffiti artist Martin Blumöhr, in which the children also processed their impressions of the war-torn country. In addition, excursions through the region are organized to give the refugees impressions of their new homeland. The program is funded by the “Culture makes you strong. Alliances for Education” initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which has been supporting extracurricular cultural education offers since 2013.
