Customer insults Volksbank employees – his account is terminated immediately
Because a bank employee does not comply with a customer’s request, he insults her and the bank. The bank doesn’t let that sit on its own and terminates the unfriendly customer’s bank account.
A customer of the Volksbank Mittlhessen wanted to buy shares in the cooperative bank, which bear an interest rate of 5.5 percent. However, the number of shares he wanted exceeded the specified maximum, which is why the bank employee had to refuse his request. The customer showed no understanding for this, reacted abusively and insulted the employee. He later addressed them personally on social media, calling the bank a “dirt shop.” This emerges from a report in the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.
Volksbank board terminated the customer’s account
The behavior of the customer was not without consequences: Lars Witteck, spokesman for the board of the Volksbank Mittelhessen, was annoyed that the customer “publicly named and attacked a consultant who had informed him of a business policy decision for good reason”. According to him, the colleague concerned had made the allegations. Witteck sent her a bouquet of flowers – and announced that to the customer bank account. This is what Witteck writes on LinkedIn.
According to the board spokesman, the Volksbank has 343,773 customers. “We will do without one of them in the future,” he says. Witteck’s LinkedIn post about the incident and the consequences he drew from it was liked over 2,000 times. In the more than 300 comments, many users expressed their support for Witteck’s reaction and described similar events from their area.
“A line has been crossed here”
“Even if a colleague makes a mistake – which didn’t happen in this case – that’s no reason to become so abusive and attack people personally. A line has been crossed here and I can’t and won’t tolerate that.” , according to Witteck.
