Actor Volker Lechtenbrink has died.

Actor Volker Lechtenbrink died “of the consequences of a serious illness”. He was 77 years old.

Volker Lechtenbrink (1944-2021) died on Monday with his family in Hamburg. His agency reports that. “We mourn for Volker Lechtenbrink”, it says on the homepage and further: “Volker Lechtenbrink died with his family on November 22nd, 2021 as a result of a serious illness.”

A real all-rounder

Volker Lechtenbrink was an actor, voice actor, director, artistic director, copywriter, country and pop singer. He was last seen on television in “Many Cows and a Black Sheep” (2020) and in an episode of “jerks” in 2019. In the three-part series “Our Mothers, Our Fathers” (2013), which was awarded the International Emmy, he was heard as a speaker. At the age of 14 he played in the anti-war film “Die Brücke” (1959) by director Bernhard Wicki (1919-2000).

From 1976 he was also musically active. The title song of his first LP “Der Macher” was a success. Lechtenbrink also wrote the text for the German ESC contribution “Rücksicht”, with which the Hoffmann & Hoffmann brothers achieved fifth place in 1983.

“Shortly after his 77th birthday in August of this year, he received the Gustaf Gründgens Prize 2021 at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in Hamburg,” reports his agency about Volker Lechtenbrink’s latest prize. In 2007 he was awarded the German Audiobook Prize as “Best Performer”, in 2010 the Rolf Mares Prize for his theater engagement and in 2014 the Biermann Ratjen Medal of the City of Hamburg.

He leaves behind a wife and three children

Volker Lechtenbrink leaves behind his wife, with whom he was married for the fifth time. From his previous relationships he had a son and two daughters.
