On the evening of March 16, a few dozen people were still waiting in Grindavík, the fishing town in southwest Iceland that the whole world has been watching for a few months. They returned to their homes at their own risk, having had to leave them three times since December. At exactly 8:23 p.m. local time, the sirens sounded again and emergency officials came to get them out of the small town.
