Twenty-seven days after the start of the eruption, the activity of the volcano of La Palma, in the Canaries (Spain), does not weaken.
A new eruptive mouth opened this Friday afternoon to the southeast of the main cone of the volcano. This emits ash and pyroclasts, as reported by the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan).

If the appearance of this mouth is part of a “normal process” within the “complex eruption process”, according to La Vanguardia, it bears witness to the still significant activity of the volcano which erupted on September 19.
Almost a month later, the landscape of La Palma has been significantly changed. Before / after images published on Twitter by Abián San Gil, photographer and guide based on the Canary Island, and relayed by the Institute of Geosciences of Madrid illustrate this perfectly.
Ashes covered the hills and buried the trees there, giving the landscape a lunar aspect.
According to the latest figures, the lava flows have already destroyed nearly 700 hectares of land and buried 1,548 buildings, while more than 7,000 residents had to be evacuated.
