Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a detailed interview in Russian state media that he wanted to move troops to Finland’s border. He also emphasized that Russia did not want to interfere in the US elections.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin believes Finland and Sweden joining NATO is pointless. “This is an absolutely meaningless step (for Finland and Sweden) from the point of view of protecting their own national interests,” Putin said in an interview with the Russian state news agency Ria and state television Rossiya-1. “We had no troops there (on the Finnish border), now they will be there. There were no destruction systems there, now they will be moved there.

Vladimir Putin: “Russia will not interfere in the US election campaign”

With regard to the upcoming US elections, Putin said in the extensive interview: “We do not interfere in elections in any way. And as I have said many times, we will work with any leader that the American people, the American voters, trust .” Donald Trump criticized him during his presidency because of his “sympathy” for the current US President Joe Biden.

Despite the reassuring words towards the USA: Putin emphasized that he sees his country as prepared for a nuclear war. From a military-technical point of view, Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons if the existence of the Russian state is threatened, Putin said. Its nuclear weapons are more modern than those of other countries. But there was never a need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Russia is ready for talks about Ukraine, but only if they are based on “realities.”
