High blood pressure is what is commonly called a “widespread disease” these days. In Germany, about every third adult has high blood pressure, that is a blood pressure that exceeds the limit of 140/90 mmHg. Vitamin D deficiency promotes hypertension: What researchers found about high blood pressure

According to the ÄrzteZeitung.de Researchers in the USA found out ten years ago as part of the NHANES observational study that a vitamin D deficiency can promote hypertension, which is the technical term for high blood pressure. How exactly this mechanism works was still unclear to the researchers.

A subsequent Danish study, in which 130 subjects with high blood pressure took cholecalciferol, a vitamin D3 preparation, for half a year, further showed that the blood pressure values ​​measured in consultation hours and the values ​​of the central blood pressure decreased on average by 6.8/1, 7 mmHg dropped. In patients who previously had a vitamin D deficiency, even the 24-hour blood pressure dropped by 3.7/2.7 mmHg. The Danish researchers presented these results in 2012 at a conference of the European Society of Hypertension.

Sufficient vitamin D against high blood pressure: This is the best way for the body to absorb the vitamin

But magnesium deficiency is also a common symptom of hypertension.
