Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has returned $100 million in USDC from more than $1 billion in Shiba Inu he previously donated to India-focused COVID-19 relief fund CryptoRelief, according to fund founder Sandeep Nailwal. and Buterin Tweeton friday
“We will return $100 million USDC back to Vitalik,” said Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon.
Last May, Buterin donated 50 trillion SHIB tokens. (worth about $1.2 billion at the time), which the creator of Shiba Inu sent him unsolicited to the CryptoRelief fund.
Buterin tweeted that he would use $100 million to complement the great work of CryptoRelief’s existing, higher-risk science and relief projects around the world.
“Considering the origin of offshore funds and Indian law, Crypto Relief has followed a systematic approach to regulating the disbursement of funds deployed in India,” Nailwal tweeted. “But as an Indian Citizen (NRI), I Care must be taken in any project that is donated to it,” he added.
