Vitalik Buterin Discusses Ethereum Staking Changes That May Reduce Centralization

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, shared a blog post summarizing his opinions on adding certain protocols to Ethereum’s code. Ethereum

Protocol at Buterin sayThese include Account Abstraction protocols such as ERC-4337, ZK-EVM, private mempools, code precompiles, and liquid staking. Buterin strongly supports the ‘protection’ of certain protocols in Ethereum’s code, such as ERC-4337, more than others. such as private mempools, but concluded that each protocol presents a “sophisticated tradeoff” that will “further evolve over time.”

Buterin also expressed concern about the concentration of Ethereum liquid staking providers, with Lido currently controlling more than 32% of Ether stakes, although it is spread across different validators. Buterin said Lido and Rocket Pool are two of them. Provide leading service Each has different risks. and noted that they have some security mechanisms in place. Even these may not be enough.

In the post, Buterin considered changes to Ethereum’s protocol that would decentralize liquid staking, which could include refining the guidelines of liquid staking providers like RocketPool or giving additional regulatory powers to small stakers.
