Many people want one thing above all during their holidays: get away from work. It’s only difficult if it follows you to the campsite – as is now the case with the well-known virologist Christian Drosten.

For the virologist Christian Drosten, a holiday in the Mecklenburg Lake District took an ugly turn. After being repeatedly attacked by two women and a man at the campsite, the well-known Corona expert reported to the police. A spokeswoman for the Neubrandenburg police inspection confirmed that he had filed a complaint against three permanent campers – two women and one man – for defamation.

She did not give any further details because the investigation was still ongoing. First, the online portal “We are Müritzer” reported on the incident.

Drosten has often been a target since the pandemic

Accordingly, the fellow campers insulted Drosten, among other things, as “mass murderers” and “transhumanists” and accused him of “having children on his conscience”. Even when the police arrived at the campsite, the two women and the man are said to have been slow to calm down.

The incident happened last Saturday at Ellbogensee, south of the Müritz in the border region with Brandenburg. In the meantime, the virologist had left again as planned.

In the course of the corona pandemic, Christian Drosten became known throughout Germany as an expert. Since then he has repeatedly faced hostility, for example from opponents of vaccination and critics of other corona protection measures.
