In Upper Franconia, after a short but strong thunderstorm with heavy rain showers, there was lighter flooding in many places in the Coburg district.

According to the meteorologists, the weather situation should relax from late Monday evening. For the next few days they only expect a few showers and thunderstorms in Bavaria.

Other parts of Germany were also affected by storms

There were storms not only in Bavaria. In Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, a tree fell during a thunderstorm and injured four people – including one seriously. In Lügde in North Rhine-Westphalia, a heavy thunderstorm caused flooding in several streets.

There were also some missions in northern Germany: In the control center area in Kiel, the fire brigade reported more than 100 missions during the evening. Several cellars were filled with water after heavy rains.

According to the police, seven people were slightly injured on the 19 Berlin-Rostock autobahn in the Mecklenburg Lake District because a car probably skidded when overtaking due to sudden heavy rain.

Storm knocks down high seat – hunter dead

At the weekend, severe storms had raged, especially in Upper Bavaria – in Eglfing in the Weilheim-Schongau district, according to the police on Monday, a person was even killed. The 57-year-old hunter was sitting on a high seat in a forest on Sunday afternoon when, according to previous knowledge, it was knocked down by a gust of wind. Although first responders and the rescue service immediately looked after the victim, he died of his injuries at the scene of the accident.

According to the police, a mudslide had covered a road with mud near Rosenheim. Trees had fallen and streets and cellars were flooded. In the districts of Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, there were a total of over 100 weather-related missions, as the fire brigade announced. Two people were reportedly slightly injured when a tree fell on their car.

Inflatable rafters underestimate the Isar after storms

On Monday afternoon, the fire brigade and water rescue at the Isarwehr Großhesselohe had to rescue two dinghy drivers. The woman and the man had underestimated the flow speed of the Isar after the storms of the past few days, reports the fire department. The couple had been driven against the weir in a rubber dinghy and got stuck on the wooden dam wall.

Eyewitnesses alerted the integrated control center about the life-threatening situation. Volunteers, the professional fire brigade and the water rescue team rushed to the scene of the accident. The woman was rescued from the inflatable boat with a rescue helicopter on a winch. The man saved himself on the dam wall. From there, secured by the fire brigade, he climbed a set up ladder onto the Wehrsteig. Both those in distress were unharmed.
