Vigilance on “cock rings” and other penis objects

In our weekly meeting “Everything Sexplains”, where we talk about sexuality and health, we are now talking about penis objects. These include penis rings, “cockrings”, but also objects introduced into the urethra, the small canal where, when you have a penis, urine and semen pass. Attention, vigilance with these objects, tells you the doctor Vincent Hupertan, the guest of this episode. Vincent Hupertan is a urologist and sexologist, author of The Encyclo-Penis, at Leduc. s editions.

Possible irritation up to serious injury

What is the purpose of the cock ring, this ring-shaped object placed at the base of the erect penis, and which prevents the blood from flowing back? Why pay attention to rings that are not elastic, for example made of metal? If the penis is stuck in a ring, pay attention to the time it takes to be taken care of by a healthcare professional. The urologist recalls: “It takes hours: three to six hours can lead to permanent, irreversible losses. If we arrive in time, the recovery is immediate. »

The urologist doctor also warns about the practice, a minority, which consists of inserting objects, thermometers, pencils or cables into his penis, via the urethra, the small outlet channel of the bladder. Vincent Hupertan emphasizes that this introduction of objects, superficial or deep, is dangerous and can lead to difficulties, even infections and very serious injuries. The doctor mentions in particular the case of one of his patients, who had introduced a thermometer into the urethra. The object had broken and had gone up in the bladder. Open surgery was required to remove the foreign body. “It’s very dangerous and at risk”, underlines the doctor in this episode. Read more in our player above.
