Vigilance heat wave, fire risk and air pollution

The prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône has placed the department on “yellow” heat wave vigilance. Daytime maximum temperatures ranging from 37 to 39 degrees, or even 40 locally, are expected and should last until Friday. This while inland, the nightly lows should remain above 20 degrees, or even 23 from Wednesday evening.

As a result of these strong heat and the current drought, despite the scant sparse rains at the end of last week, the massifs of the department are threatened with a high risk of fire. Access to four massifs in the hinterland is thus prohibited; those on the coast remain accessible.

And since all this is partly linked, an episode of ozone air pollution is also expected, the department has been placed in the recommendation information procedure since Monday.
