Vieilles Charrues: Simple Minds, Kings of Leon, Sam Smith and a big one on the menu for the 32nd edition

Back to a more “normal” version. Extended to five evenings in July to welcome the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Vieilles Charrues festival has returned to a more classic version which will take place over four evenings from Thursday July 11 to Sunday July 14 in Carhaix (Finistère). One of the French heavyweights, the musical event has once again put together a five-star program unveiled this Monday at 6 p.m.

In addition to Sting, whose arrival was announced a little earlier in the day, this year festival-goers will see a good vintage of rock. Note in particular the arrival of the Americans from Kings of Leon, the Gossip phenomenon, the captivating voice of PJ Harvey or the Scots from Simple Minds, a veritable hit factory of the 1980s with Do not you or the magnificent Mandela Day.

The Breton festival was also able to attract the English pop phenomenon Sam Smith, the dandy Baxter Dury, the French rappers PLK and Djadja & Dinaz, the French DJ Molecule, the singer Hoshi, the slammer Grand Corps Malade and even the very good stage men who are Hervé and Eddy de Pretto. For techno lovers, the Charrues have notably invited The Blaze and the Belgian DJ Charlotte de Witte who sends dreams with her rave.

Another surprise to come?

Note that there is a “big” missing in this programming. According to the information of Telegramit could be hip-hop legend Cypress Hill who could add to the party on Saturday, July 13.

We can also be delighted to see some very nice local discoveries carving out a place on the bill like the Rennais d’Atoem, very good on their first album, or the Vannetais d’Our Lives, excellent at the Trans Musicales.

The complete program can be found on the festival website. Currently, tickets are not on sale. The ticket office is scheduled to open on December 13 at 7 p.m.

In 2023, the Vieilles Charrues festival attracted 346,000 spectators, breaking its historic record. The event also broke the record for the largest fee ever paid to an artist by spending almost two million euros to afford Red Hot. Unlike other behemoths managed by multinationals, the Carhaix festival is supported by an association and operates with a budget of 23 million euros and without subsidies.
