Videos and more details on the 240 euro controller

Starting next year, PlayStation players can invest around 240 euros in the DualSense Edge controller. Sony reveals what this has to offer on the PlayStation Blog. A few hands-on videos were also published.

Sony will release the DualSense Edge controller next year, which costs 240 euros. In a blog entry published today, the company highlights what the input device has to offer for pro gamers. A video can also be started below these lines in which the developers talk about the design of the DualSense Edge. At the same time, some hands-on videos were made available.

Visually, the edge controller is based on the standard version of the DualSense, which has been available since 2020. However, on closer inspection, the optical and technical differences become visible.

The DualSense Edge has adjustable trigger dynamics, which are adjusted using integrated switches. There are also exchangeable embroidery caps, three sets of which are included in the product scope. The two standard caps can be compared to the DualSense controller’s snappy sticks, while the high and low caps are said to offer a “comfortable, concave feel”.

Preset profiles make it easy to get started

According to Sony, various preset profiles for adjusting the stick sensitivity offer a smooth start for gamers who do not want to dig through the individual adjustments immediately. Below is an overview of the system settings (subject to change):

Fast: The amount of registered input accelerates as players tilt the stick. This mode is suitable for fast-paced shooters.
Precise: The inputs are registered reduced when the stick is tilted. In this mode, for example, you can aim precisely.
continuous: The registered inputs are limited even if the stick is tilted widely. This setting enables smooth and stable movements, for example in action games.
Digital: When players only slightly tilt the stick, almost the maximum input is registered. This mode works like the directional buttons on the controller and is suitable for fighting and action games.
Dynamic: Registered input is limited when players tilt the stick slightly or far, but accelerates in the mid-range. This allows players to aim precisely, but also turn quickly.

The profiles can also be individually adjusted, with the following options being available:

Up to 3 three profiles are stored on the controller itself
Custom key bindings (e.g. FPS profile, driving profile, action game profile, etc.)
Adjustment of the trigger dead zone
vibration intensity
Intensity of the trigger effect

Additional features of the DualSense Edge include the optional back buttons and two function buttons under the thumbsticks, which allow easy access to a special menu of the DualSense Edge controller. These buttons allow gamers to switch profiles, adjust headset volume, and adjust audio balance in-game or in party chat.
