Video: Wet and happy – that’s how the Oktoberfest 2022 was

STORY: It’s done! The 187th Oktoberfest is over. For a good two weeks, there was drinking, partying and swaying again on the Theresienwiese in Munich – for the first time after two years of a corona break. Many visitors from Bavaria and countries around the world obviously didn’t want to miss it. According to the Wiesn management, an estimated 5.7 million guests came to the Oktoberfest by Monday – and they were obviously thirsty, as Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner notes. “Statistically, every visitor drank almost a beer. That’s quite decent. And if you look at the food and drinks, the trend is slightly towards accepting vegan and vegetarian dishes. In any case, the cheese sparrows are almost outstripping the roast pork .” As far as health awareness regarding the corona pandemic is concerned, there was criticism around the Oktoberfest. With a view to increasing incidence numbers in Munich, Federal Minister of Health Lauterbach tweeted that the festival would have been safer if it had been tested before admission. Baumgärtner rejected this. There were no problems with the logistics. “Overall, however, this Corona discussion, which was also led to the effect that all employees, regardless of whether they were in the police, security services, innkeepers, waiters and waiters, would fall ill. These prophecies of doom have not come true. And it is also once It’s interesting to hear that not everything that one thinks should be is actually true.” However, the weather was a problem for the showmen at the Wiesn. The festival weeks were mostly cold and rainy this year. Mulled wine was even allowed to be served at the stands. Instead of on the fairground rides, many visitors preferred to cavort in the beer tent. The sun did come out on the last day though. And made you want to go to the next Wiesn in 2023.
