Video: Von der Leyen: Gas storage in Europe 80 percent full

STORY: NOTE: This post will be broadcast without narration. O-Ton Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission: “We have agreed on the joint storage. We are now at 80% on average storage capacity in Europe. That has been reached faster than expected. We had actually only expected it in two months. We have worked hard to get rid of our dependency on Russian gas by letting other suppliers take care of other suppliers. Norway now supplies more gas to Europe than Russia. The USA supplies a lot of LPG, gas to Europe. But all that is not enough. ….The second element that is important is that we ensure that we can reinvest the overwhelming profits that generators are having today, which they never expected and which they are not able to reinvest so quickly that we can some of which skim it off in order to specifically support small incomes and vulnerable companies in these times of expensive electricity. And the third point is: I am firmly convinced that now is the time for a price cap on Russian pipeline gas to Europe.”
