Video: Voices on the verdict in the gas station murder in Idar-Oberstein

STORY: NOTE: This post will be broadcast without narration. O-Ton Nicole Frohn, senior public prosecutor: “Well, we are satisfied with the verdict. From the point of view of the public prosecutor, it was important that the court condemned this act as murder and accepted both murder characteristics, which were also confirmed by the public prosecutor’s office. And that has the chamber, I think, in very clear terms did too.” O-Ton Alexander Klein, defense counsel for the accused: “The verdict corresponds to the public image of the crime, but less to the background and the psychological situation of the perpetrator. We are considering appealing the verdict if necessary. It was of course essential for the defense that the court followed us and did not assume a particular degree of guilt. That allows the defendant a parole after 15 years and that is something to look at.” O-Ton Michaela Rech, mother of the victim: “Honestly 15 years for a human life, no matter what the verdict would have been like. It wouldn’t have changed anything about what happened and which person was lost. It’ll never bring my child back back. So the outcome of this verdict isn’t really that important. And for now we’re going to gather up all the broken pieces that have been thrown up over the past few months and try to make the best of them. And I thank everyone who has been involved in my , participate in our destiny from the heart.”
