STORY: The US has banned the import and sale of telecommunications and surveillance equipment from well-known Chinese manufacturers. The competent authority FCC said on Friday that Huawei Technologies, ZTE and Hytera Communications were among those affected. They posed an unacceptable risk to national security, the agency said. “One must ensure that trusted communications devices are approved for use within the United States,” said FCC director Jessica Rosenworcel. It is the implementation of the final version of regulations enacted to protect US national security based on a 2021 law. A Chinese statement was initially not available.
