The head of the Canadian parliament, Anthony Rota, honored the 98-year-old Jaroslav Hunka on September 22nd – in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – and described him as a “Ukrainian-Canadian war veteran” who once fought for Ukraine’s independence against Russia. Those present applauded, but were not aware of the context, said Trudeau.
