Video: This undertaker constructed a bicycle hearse

STORY: NOTE: This post will be broadcast without narration. “Hello, my name is Isabelle Plumereau and I have a funeral home in Paris called Heaven and Earth. I designed this bicycle hearse, the first bicycle hearse in France.” “A combination that makes it possible to go gently to the final resting place.” “I thought it was natural to combine bicycles and hearses. In Paris, bicycles stand for ‘soft mobility’. And if there’s a day when we need softness, it’s the day we meet someone we love to accompany him to his final resting place.” “Due to the high seating position, you have a good overview and you are clearly visible to other vehicles, making it safe to drive in traffic. The hearse is relatively easy to maneuver during ceremonies and, despite its size, can be used almost anywhere.” “You can walk along at the same pace and hear the sounds of nature around us, the wind in the trees, the birds. I think it’s the best way to get some comfort and relaxation. It’s like walking to go.” “The message is, ‘Let’s change the way we look at things’. There are ways to do things differently. This isn’t going to replace a traditional hearse, but it’s a proposal for short journeys. Why move a big van to walk a few yards between a church and a graveyard when you can do it together with a bicycle hearse in a calm, gentle way?”
