Video: “The main thing is that the Russians don’t come back”

STORY: Kateryna Tyshchenko, 18 years old: “Volunteers want to build another second container house for another family, my sister Tanya with her little child. It will be a tiny house, even smaller than this one. Please come in! I will show you how we live.” “We heat with this. There is another stove in the other room.” “When we don’t have electricity, we try to move more and keep warm differently.” “I don’t know what winter will bring. I can’t even imagine it yet. I hope that we can get a wood stove. We’ve asked around a lot, but nobody could answer our request. “I like it better here, than staying with friends. This is all ours. My soul belongs here, it’s my house. I can work in the garden. When you live with friends, you can’t do anything in the garden because it doesn’t belong to you.” “We’ve been living without electricity for more than a month. The container house wasn’t there yet. We then started to build the foundation and also laid the electricity. That was great. We lived in order, we had sanitation, we had food. You get used to it over time.” “We lived here without crying and without complaining. Even if we’re going to be without electricity forever, we’ll endure and survive. We just don’t want to be shot at – we can take anything else. The most important thing is that the Russians don’t come back. Then everything will be fine.”
