The largest ferris wheel in the world
With fireworks, spectacles and many onlookers, the world’s largest ferris wheel opened in Dubai on Thursday. The “Dubai Eye” is located on the artificially raised island of Bluewaters Island; the construction period took six years. “It’s the largest Ferris wheel in the world, it’s the first day, it’s the grand opening and we’re lucky to be in the same place.” The ferris wheel is 250 meters high. 9000 tons of steel from Germany were used in the structure. It can take over 1700 visitors on one revolution. This takes around 40 minutes. During the journey, the occupants are informed about the skyline and other structures on a screen. If you want, you can not only look out the window in the gondola, but also have a menu or celebrate a wedding. Special gondolas have been set up for this. The opening of the ferris wheel coincides with the world exhibition EXPO, which will also take place in Dubai from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
