Tesla gets the green light for Grünheide

STORY: Tesla receives the final building permit for the Grünheide factory. This means that the US electric car manufacturer can start production near Berlin. On Friday, the State Ministry for the Environment in Potsdam issued the final building permit. Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke: “That’s why I would like to thank all those who have contributed with their work to the fact that we can stand here today and tell them that the approval notice for this large project was handed over to Tesla today.” However, a number of conditions still have to be met before production can start. Grünheide is the first production site for Tesla in Europe. Around 12,000 employees and the production of up to 500,000 cars per year are planned. Local residents and conservationists are very worried. Above all, they see the water supply at risk. Because part of the Tesla factory site is in a water protection area.
