Tedious clean-up after tornadoes in USA
After the devastating tornadoes in the USA, the clean-up work and the recovery of the dead and injured are making difficult progress. While rescue workers combed the rubble fields in the particularly hard hit state of Kentucky and in other regions in search of victims on Sunday, numerous survivors continued to get by without shelter, water or electricity. Like these residents of Dawson Springs, Kentucky: O-TON REED GEARY: “It’s just awful. It looks like hell on earth. People have lost everything. It’s just awful. It’s awful.” O-TON RESIDENT MICHAEL LONG: “It didn’t take long. My wife traced it on her phone. The whole thing took about four minutes from the time we went down to the basement until it was over. I had one peeked to see what was going on – after we heard that everything had stopped. I looked up at the edge of the house with my flashlight and noticed that there was no wall at all. So I said to my wife: ” I don’t think our house is still standing. It will be gone. And that’s exactly how it was, the house was gone when we got there the next morning. “Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear spoke on Sunday of 80 confirmed deaths in his state alone. But he also reiterated the fear that the number of Deaths could rise above 100. According to the National Weather Service, 36 tornadoes swept through the states of Llinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi on Saturday night. President Joe Biden announced quick relief and demanded that the environmental agency investigate what role climate change could have played in the cyclones.
