In Myanmar, the ousted de facto head of government Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to four years in prison, according to insiders. The disempowered President Win Myint received the same sentence, said a person familiar with the process on Monday. These are the first judgments in the proceedings in which Suu Kyi was charged, among other things, with violating corona measures. She has also been charged with abuse of office, betrayal of secrecy and corruption. The 76-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner has denied the allegations, her supporters speak of a politically motivated process.
