Video: SpaceX: Starlink internet service has been restricted for Ukrainian drones

STORY: SpaceX has taken steps to prevent Ukraine’s military from using Internet service Starlink to control drones. The company’s chief executive, Gwynne Shotwell, said the system was “never intended as a weapon”. Ukraine does not use it as agreed. Shotwell also emphasized that Sterling was intended solely for humanitarian purposes. SpaceX has therefore taken measures to prevent the use of drones – but did not give any details. SpaceX also declined to say whether outages in Ukraine are related to the company’s decision. Starlink has provided the Ukrainian military with a broadband internet connection. Thousands of end devices were delivered to the country, which communicate via their own satellite network. Shotwell said using the system for communications is fine. Russia had tried to jam Starlink signals. The company said it was able to fend off the attacks through software modifications.
