South Africa variant arrived in Germany
The new South Africa variant Omikron of the corona virus has reached Germany. Two suspected cases of the worrying mutation were confirmed in Bavaria. The Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Nursing announced on Saturday evening that it was two people who entered South Africa via Munich Airport on November 24 before the designation of South Africa as a virus variant area. After a positive PCR test, the people would be in isolation at home. There is also a suspected case in Hesse. The EU wants to stop air traffic with South Africa. The evaluation as a virus variant area in Germany has the consequence that all travelers returning have to be in a 14-day quarantine. The reclassification came into effect on Sunday night.
